Video by smile you're on film

By the end of 'Folder 15', I was living on a caravan site in North Bristol.

This was perfect for me, however one little downside was the loss of a 'decent' studio setup. I wallowed in this for a little while like a little water-sogged urchin of the waffle coastline.

Then, I dragged myself out of it through analysis. I wrote and wrote, looking at the deeper reasons for the smog I was in, and found that in fact death/grief was a major factor. I played songs I had on the acoustic guitar and drew out this theme from them. The first half of the project was completed, but I was at a loss for a title...

At first I wanted to call it SOAKED IN DEATH, but luckily I went off that idea. So I sat, drew a tarot card and gazed upon the image. I was drawn to the crustacean to the bottom of the card.

I reached for a symbol book and landed through happenstance on the symbol of the crab. Associations were made of them eating literally anything and turning it into life; into energy, decaying corpses that would kill us to eat are a nice snack for them.

And I realised, this is what I do with these songs. These songs of death are me taking deep sorrow and turning it into a feeling that frees me instead of burdens me. It's like...food...

CRAB FOOD is born!
